New Approach To Treating Acne Problems


New technology that combines suction with laser is giving patients with acne a new approach to treating their skin problems. ABC7 takes a closer look at the technology designed to give patients a pain-free way to treat their acne.

For patients with acne, this is a new treatment option -- Photoneumatic therapy, or PPX. It's a proprietary combination of broadband, light and suction.

Vic Narurkar, MD/CPMC dermatologist: "It applies what's called pneumatic energy, which in layman's terms is a vacuum to the skin, but unlike your Hoover vacuum, it's very gentle suction that's applied very precisely that's guided by the computer."
